Refugees International Japan (RIJ) is hosting ‘Rhythm and Hope’ to raise awareness of the over 60 million
refugees and internally displaced people (IDPs) around the world and mark World Refugee Day on June 20.
‘Rhythm and Hope’ aims to inspire people through music, multi-media art installations, interactive
workshops, and film to act now in the face of one of the most desperate times for refugees around the world.
The need to inform the public about refugees and IDPs is now greater than ever with the current conflicts in
Darfur, Gaza and Sri Lanka. Funds raised will support RIJ aid projects worldwide.
「リズム＆ホープ/ Rhythm and Hope」は、Refugees International Japan（国際難民支援会）が主催するチャリテ
ィーイベントです。世界には、6,000万人を超える難民と国内避難民がいます。6月20日の「世界難民の日」をきっか
けに、難民支援への関心を高めることが目的です。映像と音楽を組み合わせたマルチメディア・エキシビション、
インタラクティブなワークショップ、ドキュメンタリー映画は、今もなお過酷な状況におかれている世界中の難民
の現実を私たちにつきつけ、今こそ私たちはアクションを起こすべきであると訴えかけます。スーダン西部のダルフール、ガザ地区、スリランカで現在起きている紛争により 、私たちは今まで以上に難民問題について深く考える必要があります。このイベントでの収益は、RIJが援助する世界中の難民支援プロジェクトに使われます。
The event will include the award-winning film, SIERRA LEONE'S REFUGEE ALL STARS, and a performance
by renowned percussionists Latyr Sy and Africa Sunu Xelcom. Guests can join interactive workshops such as
Refugee Experience, African percussion and an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, along with Benetton Japan and its
microcredit and CSR programs that are changing communities.
イベント内容 / 難民キャンプで結成されたバンドの活動を記録したドキュメンタリー映画「シエラレオネ・レフュージ ー・
オールスターズ」の上映、セネガル出身のアフリカン・パーカッショニスト、ラティール・シー率いる「アフリカ・スヌ
・ヘルコム」によるライブを予定。また、難民エクスペリエンス、アフリカン・パーカッション、エチオピア・コーヒー
セレ モニー、ベネトン ジャパンのCSR活動とアフリカのコミュニティをサポートしたマイクロクレジットプログラムなど、
み んなで一緒に参加できるインタラクティブなワークショップもあります。
WORLD REFUGEE DAY・世界難民の日
World Refugee Day is a global call for action from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to draw
attention to the millions of refugees who live without material, social and legal protection. The day
promotes engagement in local communities and in 2008 millions of people around the world organized
events such as film festivals, panel discussions and sports competitions.
「世界難民の日」（毎年6月20日）は、難民の保護と援助に対する世界的な関心を高め、UNHCRをはじめとする国連機関やNGO(非政府組織)による活動に理解と支援を深める日にするために制定されました。
2008年 には、写真展、映画フェスティバル、パネルディスカッション、スポーツイベントなど様々な催し物が世界中で 実施されました。
