Latyr and Africa Sunu Xelcom
Africa Sunu Xelcom is one of the world’s leading percussion groups and
Latyr Sy is an international musician, performing at the Nelson Mandela Concert, 2002 World Soccer Cup and
most recently at Yokohama’s AfricaFesta.
His music has appeared in Japanese television commercials and
heruns nationwide workshops to educate Japanese students about African music and culture.

ラティール・シー率いる、世界をリードするパーカッショングループ。
ラティール・シーは国際的に活躍するミュージシャンで、ネルソンマンデラコンサート、サッカーアフリカカップ、
2002年サッカーワールドカップの開催式典など、数々のイベントでパフォーマンスを披露し、
アフリカンフェスティバルよこはま2009でも観客を魅了しました。
彼の演奏は日本のテレビCMでも使われ、ワークショップなどの音楽活動を通じて
アフリカ音楽と文化の普及に大きく貢献しています。

Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars

from Billboard Magazine, Daily Yomiuri and the New York Times,
Refugee All Stars was one of the highlight acts at 2006’s Fuji Rock.
Formed in a refugee camp in 2000 after fleeing Sierra Leone’s brutal civil war,
the band creates powerful and uplifting songs about their experience and hope for the future.
The film reveals the musicians’ courageous struggles escaping the war,
surviving the daily uncertainty of life in refugee camps and their inspirational efforts to rebuild their lives.
As the New York Times describes it,
“The story told here is simple, and ultimately triumphant.”

難民となって祖国シエラレオネを追われ、今や世界的に有名になったバンド
「シエラレオネ・レフュージー・オールスターズ」。
彼らの演奏はポール・マッカートニー、アンジェリーナ・ジョリー、キース・リチャードといったセレブにも
高く評価されています。また、ビルボードマガジン、ニューヨーク・タイムズ、ニューズウィーク、デイリー・ヨミウリ
などのメディアでも音楽批評が掲載され、2006年にはフジロックフェスティバルにも参加して話題になりました。
シエラレオネでの非人道的な内戦後、2000年に難民キャンプで結成。
彼らの活動を記録したドキュメンタリー映画受賞作品は、内戦から逃れた勇気ある闘いと、難民キャンプでの不安な生活、そして自分たちの生活を立て直すまでの感動的な努力が描かれています。
